I sometimes wonder how influential the silver screen has been when it comes to crime. Murder is especially exploited in film. Do people think they can do what they see in the movies? I saw a French film where a woman was strangled to death and the body was thrown into a tote mixer in a chemical plant. Three months later the crime was seemingly mimicked in a paint factory not ten miles from where the scene was shot. My feelings are that that was a bit too coincidental. I am concerned, since the horror film genre is a rapidly growing segment of filmdom. It frightens me as to what type of effect it will have on the public.

Furniture Retail Software

Boy do I appreciate those three little words. Oh, not I love you, but furniture retail software. They gave me my life and my wife back. She works for a major furniture retail chain. As she moved up the ladder, they absorbed her entire life. The travelling was difficult for a while, but we worked around it. Then when she got her last promotion she stayed local but took over a very time consuming administrative position. I tell you, 12 hour days, sometimes 7 days a week is not a formula for a happy marriage. Then about four months ago she implemented the software and now she’s only working 35-40 hours a week and getting twice as much done.

Green Printing

No, I am not talking about money. I am talking about something far more important than money. I’m referring to what Metro Fine Printing has done with green printing to eliminate toxicity from their entire manufacturing processes. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be if the entire industrial world thought enough of the rest of us to make this kind of financial and considerate decision. I’d bet that in a few short years, the planet would respond and the recovery from all we have done to damage her would accelerate toward health. What an opportunity to show the world we are in fact a community and brotherhood.

Nature’s Wedding Decorations

My daughter’s wedding was at this remote Santa Monica Hills location. Everything that was part of the wedding decorations was alive and doing well. The only flowers that were cut were the bouquet she was holding. Everything else was a living plant. Not only did she save a bunch of money, but using nature’s contibution was amazing. The platform where the ceremony took place was constructed at the turn of the century and was of solid oak. The bandstand was a flat boulder that rose slightly above the ground. It really was a unique and wonderful experience, we will all never forget.

If you have never been in a good sized manufacturing plant, you should be aware that each one will present you with a world you have never experienced. From the super-tech Mercedes plant in Germany and their futuristic robots unerringly welding and forming perfect auto parts, to the fancy new tote mixer in a paint factory, the landscape seems like a different planet. I, for one, would like to visit these places as often as possible. It really is fun to witness how the every day things we use are made. What especially intrigues me is how the they produce the high volume.

3 Ring Binders

I started out in the movie business like so many others that didn’t have an inside tract. I was a gofer. I ran to get everything for everybody above me (which was everybidy). I hustled to get coffee bact to the set while it was still hot. I ran to the cleaners to pick up clothes. I even had to find 3 ring binders for the third assistant producer one day. If there was a name for the errand, I did it. Fortunately, little by little the experience on the sets led to bigger and better things. I am very excited to tell you that the studio is working on one of my screenplays and readying it for production next winter. Wish me luck.

Vinyl Binders

I was rather intrigued by my brother’s collection of doodles. He has this incredible talent for creating designs that seem to tell a story and relate messages. He claims that if he thinks about what he’s drawing, he can’t draw. The pen or pencil sort of has to move on its own or not move at all. He feels the images are his inner self expressing itself and as soon as his surface or relative self is involved, the drawing is done. Every once in a while he gathers up a bunch of them and inserts them into vinyl binders. One of these days I am going to bring then to an art expert and see if they have any value.

Wedding Decorations

I kid you not. When my wife and I walked into the reception hall of my niece’s wedding I flipped. It felt like we were on a Cecil B. DeMille set. It was amazing enough seeing how beautiful the flower arrangements were at the chapel. Coming into that room and seeing the remakable wedding decorations was simply awe striking. I kept hearing updates on the theme and all the work they were doing to prepare for the party from my sister. I should have been fore warned. Believe me when I tell you, I was shocked. I can only hope her marriage is half as successful as her reception. Even the cake looked like something the Cake Boss from TV did.
