In an attempt to create a character that depicted the average moderately successful type, the writer of our screenplay decided to visit the area and hopefully come across the ideal person. After three days of sizing up individuals, he claimed to have found him. He didn’t want the most successful person. He wanted a believable down to earth guy to have the film represent life in the area. His instincts told him to rent a Burnaby condo that would give him exposure to his idea of a regular, together person. As it turned out, he was spot on. We all agreed that his selection process worked to a tee.

I am willing to bet that anyone would be pressed to name any settings in movie scenes that are more prolific than characters sitting at coffee tables having a discussion. Maybe bedroom scenes or hospital scenes can give them a run for their money, but I doubt it. From Harry Met Sally to Table for Five, there have probably been ten thousand scenes filmed at a coffee table. The phenominally successful show, Friends, alone probably has a thousand or more such scenes. Seinfeld was also no slouch when it came to all the restaurant scenes with George and Jerry analyzing humanity while drinking the bean.

I have a distant uncle that claims he could make an interesting documentary about anything. He thinks he is the end all when it comes to film making or screenplay writing. I was tiring of his boasting and racked my brain to come up with a topic that would challenge his cockiness. After a few hours, I came up with motor testing as a subject. I gave him three days to come up with a reasonable outline. He had an additional month to produce a 15 minute film that proved to be of interest. I couldn’t believe it, but there it was a captivating story about a young man who started out working in a factory testing motors for military vehicles and winding up a war hero. He’s amazing.

My sister was at Starbucks last July, when an artsy type person came up to her and asked if she knew anyone who lived in the condos just above the cafe. She said that she did and the project was underway. A film studio made her an offer to use her condo for a few scenes. She was incredibly stoked and loved every minute of the shooting. The best part was that they told her that they needed to make some pretty interesting changes and showed her a drawing of what they wanted to do. It included all new kitchen cabinetry and appliances (all on them). She got the promised fee and a condo renovation out of the deal.

Once you are in any way involved with the movie business, you are a prisoner of it for life. For some reason, nothing can compare to the excitement and variety of this world, at least for me. I would rather travel the globe living in RV rentals than live in a magnificent mansion. The idea of waking each day and being in the same place, does not appeal to my adventurous heart. What could be more educational than experiencing new places and new people on an almost weekly basis? The most accurate adage I have ever heard was “to each his own.” If the security of being in one place is your cup of tea, so be it.

There is an all out search throughout the entire store for the little future debutant. Her mother is absolutely frantic. They have looked everywhere to no avail. Then, her pet Yorshire Terrior begins her squeeling little yaps and gravitates toward one of the sales clerk’s desk. There’s the little miss playing with the store’s furniture retail software on the clerks computer.

One of my fondest escapes when times are tough is to watch an old oater with the likes of black hat bandits. They fearlessly roamed the old weat with reckless abandon and shot up the landscape. It really is a good thing that they didn’t have infinite banking back then or Jesse James and the boys would have no banks to rob. They would have to settle for only stagecoaches and trading posts. Oh well, I never thought I’d be thankful for something this great not being available. Otherwise, I may never have heard the classic American phrase, “stick-em-up.”

I appreciate the guest post, Lindsay Valdez

If you have children and they are holy terrors then you should definitely watch Supernanny. I know it sounds kind of weird to watch a television show to learn how to discipline your children but I guess it is no different than watching Dr. Phill hand out advice and trying to relate that to your own life. Supernanny is a show about an English nanny named Jo Frost who goes from home to home teaching parents how to discipline and better care for their children. She believes that you are not just teaching children how to behave you are teaching them how to be a good adult at the same time. She firmly believes in consequences as well as rewards for good behavior. She does not believe in spanking or hitting a child in anyway but has better ways to get the same thing accomplished through consequences. I have seen her turn truly terrible children in to kids who actually want to be good and obey. Check your Direct Star TV guide to find out when Supernanny comes on in your area.

Living in Southern California brings constant awareness of the movie industry with so many celebrities, producers and such forever in your face. To estimate the number of pseudos would take more then your old fashioned abacus. If I hadn’t opted for infinite banking a few years ago, I would still be one of the have-nots practically begging for funding for my film project. Now that I am actually my own bank and present substance to the deep pockets, I get their attention for my proposals. Take a look at what Personal Equity Institute has to offer. You will certainly be glad that you did.

When you have a true passion for something, it is difficult to determine where the line is drawn in the sand. How far do you go to make the show go on? The movie business is ripe with enthusiasm and strongly determined people who would do most anything to assure just that. I am no exception. Once a project is underway, it is not ever imagined that it wouldn’t go to completion. I once even started a self directed IRA to insure that the funds would be available to finish a film. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it was one of the smartest financial moves I had ever made.
