Supernanny
I appreciate the guest post, Lindsay Valdez
If you have children and they are holy terrors then you should definitely watch Supernanny. I know it sounds kind of weird to watch a television show to learn how to discipline your children but I guess it is no different than watching Dr. Phill hand out advice and trying to relate that to your own life. Supernanny is a show about an English nanny named Jo Frost who goes from home to home teaching parents how to discipline and better care for their children. She believes that you are not just teaching children how to behave you are teaching them how to be a good adult at the same time. She firmly believes in consequences as well as rewards for good behavior. She does not believe in spanking or hitting a child in anyway but has better ways to get the same thing accomplished through consequences. I have seen her turn truly terrible children in to kids who actually want to be good and obey. Check your Direct Star TV guide to find out when Supernanny comes on in your area.

Living in Southern California brings constant awareness of the movie industry with so many celebrities, producers and such forever in your face. To estimate the number of pseudos would take more then your old fashioned abacus. If I hadn’t opted for infinite banking a few years ago, I would still be one of the have-nots practically begging for funding for my film project. Now that I am actually my own bank and present substance to the deep pockets, I get their attention for my proposals. Take a look at what Personal Equity Institute has to offer. You will certainly be glad that you did.

When you have a true passion for something, it is difficult to determine where the line is drawn in the sand. How far do you go to make the show go on? The movie business is ripe with enthusiasm and strongly determined people who would do most anything to assure just that. I am no exception. Once a project is underway, it is not ever imagined that it wouldn’t go to completion. I once even started a self directed IRA to insure that the funds would be available to finish a film. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it was one of the smartest financial moves I had ever made.

It isn’t every day that you find yourself in totally perfect surroundings. Being in the world of cinema, I usually have to manufacture the ideal setting for a scene in a film. I went to Canada to seek the appropiate place to shoot a paricularly classy love scene between two of the film’s main characters. I was expecting to call in all kinds of help to set the mood and ambience of the sequence. I arrived at this Vancouver hotel and was awe struck. It was as if I had sent a proficient team of craftsman to build the perfect set. The fact is I had to do nothing but load the cameras thanks to the outstanding Loden Hotel.

There are times when I feel like I was born with a camera protuding from my hands in addition to my fingers. I live and breathe the world of cinematic imaging. Who better than me to tout the magnificence of camera holsters? These gadgets have literally removed 50% of the stress when I am on a shooting project, a shoot if you will. To have your hands free while doing this form of work, is an absolute blessing. I am so spoiled. I would have no idea what to do without one. It is amazing how need is most certainly the mother of invention.

There is a battle going on between me and my camera man. He claims the most often seen furniture in movies and TV are sofas. It is my contention that coffee tables are more prevalent. There is some truth that you rarely see one without the other on TV or in a film. They sort of go together like Leno and his chin or Brad and Angelina. You do, however, see them separately at times. We had a contest and counted twenty scenes, ten from TV and ten from movies. We each scored a point when one or the other appeared and when they appeared together. He won by a score of 13 to 9. I am deeply wounded.

One of the all time classic comedies was Fire Sale. It still makes me smile when I recall the hilarious scenes of Sid Caesar and Alan Arkin. They operated a family furniture store that was in constant turmoil. I didn’t think about it for a long time and then I stumbled upon an ad about furniture retail software, and all the scenes flooded back into my head. I am now in the process of seeking the film at various movie rental outlets. If any of you come upon a copy of it, please let me know. I will for ever be in your debt.

One thing that I have seen very little of in movies for the last several years is the mention of cleaning up the environment. Sure, there have been a few occasional mentions, but nothing so profound as to bring the level of focus that is needed. I think the motion picture industry has a degree of responsibility to the viewers in this area. There is a printing company that converted to eco friendly printing in Canada. The film makers should go up there and do a documentary on them. It would be a class act to put the spotlight on a worthy subject.

In the old days when you were trying to get funding for a film project, you had to fake like the opportunity would be gone soon and the smart money would get in early. If that didn’t work, there was always prayer. I spent a lot of time praying. Today if the going gets tough, you can hire a b2b telemarketing company to do the fund raising. Surely there are no guarantees. But, believe me, they are so good at what they do, you will have at least ten times the chance that they’ll raise a lot more than you could.

Try waking up each day after a gruelling 12 hours in a lab with your eyes glued to a micrscope and knowing you have to do it all over again. If this doesn’t sound very invigoraring to you, welcome to the club. I don’t know how in the world I got roped into the research world of stem cell culture. This field requires a gift that I do not have and will never have. A virtue called patience has never been embodied by me. This is why I quit the grind and am working in a motion picture studio for half the salary. My sanity and well being supercede my material desires.
